Pepper X

On August 23, 2023, Guinness World Records officially recognized Pepper X as the world's hottest chilli pepper, measuring 2.69 million scovilles, beating the previous world record of 1.64 million scovilles held by the Carolina Reaper chilli pepper.

Pepper X is a chilli bred by Ed Currie, creator of the Carolina Reaper. Pepper X resulted from several cross breedings that produced an exceptionally high content of capsaicin in the chilli. The exceptional pungency of the chilli was developed over 10 years of cultivation.
